| | Dear Guest,
I write to you this week from the comfort of my home and current office - my kitchen table! I have been speaking with many of you over the phone and through social media and email, and while the tension is real for business owners all across Australia, there is much gratitude to be found. I say it many times but one of the best things about our WNA membership network is the way we all step up and support each other in the prosperous times and during the frankly arduous times!
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics have been an incredible distraction for me during the day when I have needed to walk away from the computer or clear my mind - the Australian athletes have been formidable, inspirational and their positive attitudes have reminded me of the power of unity and teamwork. From multi-Olympics trooper Andrew Hoy in the equestrian, to rising star Poppy Olsen in the skateboarding, and of course Emma McKeon - wow four gold medals! And I am looking forward to following Bec Henderson in today's 20 kilometre race walk!
I am so excited about the Velvet Rewired Concert Tour which will be gracing us in Brisbane in November as part of Wynnum Fringe and will give our members something to cheer about when lockdown ends! Marcia Hines is bringing back the funk and we are encouraging WNA members to share your memorable boogie moments in our WNA Facebook Group to win a double pass to the event. We have two double passes to give away, so make sure you join in and read on for more information!
Next Tuesday's Episode Two of our Business Insight Virtual Series will be fantastic! Tune in from 12.00pm to 1:00pm AEST with Debra Yuille - General Manager of Mediaglue. Make your ham and cheese toastie and cup of tea, line up your computer and learn away as Debra shares her marketing and advertising experiences online. Lock it in now!
Finally, read on for the benefits of blogging on our WNA website and win your free ticket to the latest Pierce Brosnan film. I have also researched a number of options for COVID-19 business grants nationwide which will support our WNA business owners and leaders to sustain and adapt their businesses during these difficult times.
As always, I am open to your feedback and only ever a phone call away.
Stay safe and well this week and reach out if you need.
Janelle Bostock CEO of Women's Network Australia | | | BOOGIE WONDERLAND IS BACK AND WE'VE GOT A GIVEAWAY FOR YOU!
Introducing Velvet Rewired, a glittering spectacle of circus, cabaret and a dazzling love-letter to disco - it opens as part of Wynnum Fringe on November 17. Since its world premiere in 2015, born in the sequins and disco dust of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, this original big, bold and beautiful extravaganza has travelled the globe to thunderous applause and sold-out performances. Six years later and 1,200 shows on, from the Sydney Opera House to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this disco-fuelled cabaret spectacular returns as a brand new, revamped, reinvented celebration!
This fresh, totally reinvented extension of the Velvet journey continues to chart the progress of a young man on his path of self-discovery. He returns to the club known as โVelvetโ and is again embraced by its inhabitants. Blind to colour, creed, class, gender, size and sexuality, Velvet Rewired continues the underlying theme of celebration, family and freedom! In an age of uncertainty and compromise, Velvet Rewired is a story of hope, resilience and bravery as the production rolls the dice on recovery, ticket sales and a future for Australian theatre.
Excitingly, we have two double passes to giveaway away so we are calling on WNA members to share their best Boogie Wonderland moments in the WNA Facebook Group. It could be your favourite disco outfit, or a favourite memory of boogie-ing the night away! You have until 15 August to post your image and we'll choose the best two and reward them with double passes. Importantly, this event is in Brisbane, so while we encourage members from interstate to participate, preferably the winner will be based in Brisbane and will be able to attend the event without any potential border hitches. | | | BUSINESS INSIGHTS #2 WITH DEBRA YUILLE
