Dear Guest,

I must say my maroon pride copped a huge hit on Wednesday night after watching the NSW Blues run away with it 50 - 6 in this year's first State of Origin at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville. As one of the biggest losses in footy's origin battle history, Queensland have a lot of work to do to come back stronger in two weeks at Suncorp Stadium on June 27. Well done to our NSW friends, you certainly were too good!

Join our Socialise at Sunset today to discuss all our maroon painpoints, end of financial year and other weekly business learnings. It's a great opportunity to meet members around the country, learn about what they do and establish great business relationships.

We are turning up the heaters for winter and our rollout of winter events. We have a special day planned for our WNA Hobart members with the dynamic and delightful story-telling entrepreneur Simone de Haas towards the end of June which you won't want to miss. You can also prepare for two morning events in Brisbane in July with two kickass women including Jody Sainsbury who believes the future is truly female in mid-July and then Katelyn Aslett who wants to share her incredible diverse career perspectives and her loves of travel, colour and design.

Now is also a great time to get on top of those essential end of financial year tasks. It's an important time for all small businesses to complete your bookkeeping, tax returns and plan for the 2021/2022 financial year. Find out what record keeping tasks you need to finish, for example, profit and loss statements, lodging your PAYG withholding statement, meeting your superannuation requirements and backing up any digital records you have on your computer. You can keep up-to-date with any small business and tax changes via the ATO newsroom.

For a little something else, we have another powerful reminder to look after our planet and take action on World Ocean Day and I have a book that will assist aspiring leaders to embrace the gift mindset. You can also read about a digital hub that has been created to support the mental wellbeing of small business owners and the 'Red Lady' Naomi Simson is helping others with a podcast of her own!

We know as members you all cover a broad range of services and would love for you to share your knowledge and experiences in our WNA Facebook, Instagram and/or LinkedIn pages so other members can touch base or utilise your services!

Thank you as always for your support of WNA.

Janelle ♥

We are delighted to have Simone de Haas as our guest speaker at the next Hobart event. Simone will be presenting on "Perfect Pitch: the Art of Sharing Your Business Story".

Stories can be powerful business tools and successful leaders use them to engage their teams. Entrepreneurs use the art of storytelling to drive sales, and speakers use stories to transform. With this in mind it stands to reason that if you want to create greater personal and business influence, you need to learn how to tell a good story. Stories can change the way we think, feel and act.

Stories can capture our imaginations, illustrate our ideas, arouse our passions, and inspire us in a way that cold, hard facts often can't. Throughout this dynamic presentation, multi-award winning Theatre Director & Entrepreneur, Simone de Haas will share her top tips for identifying your perfectly persuasive business story, the techniques for sharing it most effectively, and how to monetise your message for increased sales and customer engagement.

Simone is a Corporate Story Strategist, International Speaker and Mentor, and Executive Speaking Coach. She specialises in helping business owners, entrepreneurs, and CEO's tell their entrepreneurial story in a way that resonates with their target market - and in doing so, help them better monetise their products and services.

We are delighted to host our 2021 events at the RACV Hobart Hotel, Collins Street, Hobart. You will be welcomed with a drink on arrival, followed by a sit down two course luncheon. Don't miss out - secure your event tickets today.

Get comfortable with the idea of change.....says our Guest Speaker, Jody Sainsbury from Kickass Women. Working for a global resources company has given Jody an interesting glimpse of the latest innovations - an "Internet of Things" through which everyday objects communicate with one another are no longer things of the distant future.

In saying that, Jody hardly recognises herself these days. Jody is not talking about the way she looks, but rather what she does. For the past eight years in Jody's role as a coal train driver she has learned more from her transformation from high heels to high vis than just the fact that women indeed need to be retrained, mobile, and tech savvy to adapt to the new world of work skills.

Kickass Women kicked into gear in advocating and putting plans in place for the development of the future of work for women.....defining her. A campaign about promoting the future skills women will require to work alongside with Artificial Intelligence and automation and that by relearning and rearming ourselves, both by nature and by culture, women are better placed to benefit from learning how to work with the Bots.

Katelyn Aslett has an incredible story and life journey to share. Some key childhood moments stood out that shaped her life and outlook to live fearlessly, with adventurous spirit, love and self belief. Katelyn started her solo travels when she was just 18 years old – to Africa. Here, she did community work assisting to build a school and dispensary. She also helped set up White Rhino rescue stations. Later in her early 20's she helped set up an organic flower farm. This started the next life journey when she became a creative designer for the next 20 years with her fashions being shown in New York, Paris and Hong Kong.

She is currently in the corporate aviation world with Adagold Luxe, an industry impacted heavily by COVID-19. Katelyn has now, in her own words, "returned to my future" and created My Giving Table. Come and hear from Katelyn - her “why”, her lessons and journey in life. We are delighted to be hosting our South Brisbane event at Ralph & Co, Camp Hill with one of our newest members. Seating is limited to just 30 places, so get in quick this one is going to be a sell out!

Last week we recognised World Environment Day and how all of us can contribute to ensuring the sustainability of our future through #GenerationRestoration. On Wednesday this week we recognised World Ocean Day and the theme of 'One Ocean, One Climate, One Future - Together' - communicates an important message clearly. The day unites and rallies the world to protect and restore our blue planet as people globally celebrate and honour our one shared ocean that connects us all.

A key purpose is the 2021 Conservation Action Focus to protect at least 30% of our blue planet for a healthy ocean and climate.  By supporting 30x30, we can protect our planet’s life support systems – specifically the interconnected issues of ocean, climate and biodiversity.

If you want to get involved or learn more, here are some great ways you can do this:

Renee Giarrusso is a highly sought-after leadership, communication and mindset expert, speaker, educator and mentor. After approximately 15 years in senior leadership roles, she founded RG Dynamics, a company that passionately works with leaders, teams and organisations to energise mindset, communication and leadership to lift performance and create a connected and collaborative workplace culture. Renee's experiences working with clients on adopting a gift mindset built the foundations for her new book - Gift Mindset.

Her latest book demonstrates how we all experience challenges, crises, sadness, triumphs and success at some point over the years and threw in a few curveballs too. I love the analogy of these challenges - some are made of glass and are hard to catch, some bounce off us, and others seems to fall straight into our hands. Renee calls these 'gifts' and every experience has a gift if we are open to unwrapping it. Renee explores how to adopt the gift mindset and develop the 12 gifts that, if embraced, will bring you greater personal wellbeing and professional success.

Renee also offers her Limitless Leadership Online Academy, is a well-established speaker, hosts a podcast, and many other great mentorship opportunities to help organisations and individuals maximise their performance.

We all need support and assistance as small business owners at times and possibly now more than ever as we adapt and move through this pandemic. The new Ahead for Business Digital Hub which has been funded by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources is a great step forward for the wellbeing of all business owners. It provides tailored resources, peer support, check-ups and personalised action plans, as well as showcasing the experiences of small business owners through podcasts, videos, blogs and case studies.

Ahead for Business has been developed to support small business owners to take action on their own mental health and wellbeing through personalised resources and tools that are tailored to their specific needs. Research has shown that more than four million people experience mental ill-health each year and almost half the population has experienced a mental illness at some time in their life. These are critical statistics and this new platform is an important opportunity for small business owners to utilise the services so they can be their best selves at work and at home.

You can find support for yourself, support for someone in need that you know, and support for handling adverse events. Some of the ways to do this include:

She may be known as the 'red lady' or the 'red shark' but entrepreneur and business leader Naomi Simson has done it all - speaker, author, entrepreneur, innovator, influencer, Red Balloon and BRG Founder and many more, but it is her latest project - a podcast - which is great news for many business owners.

Naomi is known for her positivity and her willingness to learn and grow as well as help other business owners improve and develop. Handpicked with Naomi Simson is a short podcast delivered each Monday where she takes questions from business owners that may need help growing, starting or saving their business.

Naomi shares advice, stories and ideas with her guests that might help them and anyone else that has ever wanted to start a business of their own.

Apply now to be handpicked by Naomi!
