| | Dear Guest,
With a broad range of books sitting on my home lounge at any one time, Core Confidence has stood out in particular this week. Kate Boorer, Founder of Young Professional Women Australia, and Fiona Pearman, Founder of Pearman and Partners, are two leaders on a mission to encourage women to strengthen their confidence and ability to thrive. I resonated with all their ideas on building confidence but one part did stand out - being your own coach. At times across our professional careers, as women, I do believe we lose confidence at times and we get uncomfortable with not knowing enough in our respective niches or industries. Encouragingly though, by embracing a growth mindset and willingness to learn and develop in a particular business niche, we can all shine brightly and find a passion that aligns with our own values. I encourage you to read the book and find your reason to be more confident and bring your talents to the table.
It has been a busy week on the WNA front with our fifth Business Virtual Insights Series webinar on Tuesday. Erin van Nieuwkuyk has certainly found her niche with her natural perfume company, Goddess Natural Perfume, and her mission to bring more non-toxic products to our bathrooms and homes. Her entrepreneurial vision and story was an inspiration for those who joined online. If you paid for the series and missed the session, don't panic as I will be forwarding the recording for you to watch in your free time.
In event news, our WNA Christmas Charity Luncheon is just around the corner - can you believe it's November already?! 25th November will be a special day on the calendar for everyone involved - we have enlightening guest speakers with stories of strength and courage who will inspire you to "dare to dream", great food and drinks, superb company with fellow WNA members and friends, and raffle prizes galore. I am excited and I hope you are too - I will miss our interstate members and guests but am grateful for the opportunity to host this event again - please book your seat if you haven't already!
For our Melbourne and Hobart members and colleagues, there are two events coming up prior to Christmas that will encourage collaboration, networking, and enjoying a good time which is something I know many have been missing - read on to find out more! It's a great time of year to utilise your WNA membership and I wanted to remind you of the myriad of ways you can enjoy the benefits of our empowered group. Small actions such as posting in our WNA Facebook Group or engaging with us on Instagram, writing a blog on your niche or passion, attending one of our physical or virtual WNA events, and supporting other WNA members by purchasing their products or business services are great ways to utilise your membership and boost your business or profile.
Finally, November is always a great reminder about looking after ourselves especially our health. Read on to find out why you should book in your next cervical cancer screening test and how small acts of kindness everywhere can make our world a happier and peaceful place. Also I've included an article on how you can be a better colleague and friend at work and I have free tickets for a fun Christmas movie for the family to enjoy.
As always, I am open to your feedback and only ever a phone call away.
Stay safe and well this fortnight and reach out if you need.

The world more than ever needs genuine acts of kindness and generosity and it's a great opportunity this weekend to make an incredible impact to those in your lives. World Kindness Day was created so individuals could perform acts of kindness and impact their family, friends, colleagues, children, and complete strangers in numerous wonderful ways. Every year on 13th November, people globally come together through random acts of kindness and to spread as many smiles as possible.
You can pledge an act of kindness as an individual or organisation and make the world a better place at the same time. It could be a phone call to a friend or family member you haven't seen in a long time, helping an elderly neighbour with their groceries or putting their bin back in their yard, buying a coffee for the next person in line on your daily commute, or sending an encouraging email to a fellow colleague based on a work achievement. Small acts add up and really do contribute to a happier, healthier and more vibrant world.

Free Movie Tickets For A Christmas Movie!
It's that time of year and a great time for a Christmas movie. The original story of Father Christmas is re-imagined in Gil Kenan's live action movie - A Boy Called Christmas which will be released on 25 November. An ordinary young boy called Nikolas sets out on an extraordinary adventure into the snowy north in search of his father who is on a quest to discover the fabled village of the elves, Elfhelm. Taking with him a headstrong reindeer called Blitzen and a loyal pet mouse, Nikolas soon meets his destiny in this magical, comic and endearing story that proves nothing is impossible.
This heartwarming, family movie will bring back some magic and hope this Christmas. Starring Jim Broadbent, Sally Hawkins, Toby Jones, Maggie Smith, Kristen Wiig and Zoe Colletti, make the time for some salty popcorn and a bit of viewing time. Contact me for your free family pass! First in, best dressed!
National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week 2021
Did you know that nearly 50% of Australian women are overdue for cervical cancer screening and up to 80% of cervical cancer cases in Australia are found in women who are overdue or have never been screened! That's a scary fact and a great reason for all women to prioritise this part of our health now.
Held from 8-21 November, the theme this year will build on last year's message and encourage women aged 25-74 that it is "Time to Catch Up". As the COVID-19 pandemic has put many plans on hold, it has also been a time when many women have put their Cervical Screening appointments on the back burner. The hope is to raise awareness that will build on the World Health Organisation's Vision of a world where cervical cancer is eliminated as a public health issue by 2030.
You Can Be An Ally In Your Workplace
I am always looking for the next article or piece of wisdom that will help shape me as a leader or help me be a better team player in business and within the networks I am involved with. I loved the latest article from Melinda Briana Epler titled, "How to be an ally in the workplace: 13 ways to do it". It is a credible and easy read for those who are keen to improve in this area. I have picked out a few of her ideas that really struck a chord with me and I hope you find they help you in your organisation or small business too: - Get to know people and show compassion and curiosity about their interests and lives
- Acknowledge important religious and cultural holidays and life milestones such as birthdays
- Encourage everyone in your organisations and teams to participate and share their ideas and thoughts
- Provide consistent and quality formal and informal feedback to help develop the next generation of leaders
- Provide opportunities for people who don't normally present to speak on a topic of their passion.
If you enjoyed the article like I did, you may also enjoy Melinda's 10 minute Ted Talk on the same topic - always learning, always developing which is great! | | | | Connect with Women's Network Australia | | | Copyright © 2021 Women's Network Australia, All rights reserved.
