Dear Guest,

"Lean toward the love within you to be guided to a new perspective and open up to possibilities for growth, healing, change, abundance, wisdom and grace" - Gabby Bernstein.

I love following along with new thought leaders like Gabby Bernstein. In a world where wisdom and positive energy sometimes are few and far between, Gabby is huge on "trusting the universe to have your back" and "follow your intuition hard." Particularly in a world where certainty is low and fear quite high, Gabby is all about promoting the power of manifestation and things working out in our favour. Trusting my gut in business decisions, in life decisions, and in personal decisions has always been a battle of the mind and heart, but I love how she allows her followers to clear space for bigger things to happen in our lives. The Dear Gabby Podcast could just be a new medium you need to listen to on your commute or daily walk.

WNA is always looking to evolve and grow into new opportunities and we are pleased to share our new "Partner Page" on our website. We are grateful for the support of new media partner - F-Magazine which celebrates Australian female success stories across ages, industries and lifestyles. Make sure you check out their online stories which are full of positive energy and enthusiasm, including some featuring our very own WNA members.

In other exciting WNA news this week, WNA Member Month will be back this May with some serious incentives to spread the word about WNA! There is serious talent and expertise within our membership and sharing their profiles with you is important. We are also heading towards deadlines for WNA Magazine contributions and articles, so please send yours in now for inclusion. Our Get Published page has some helpful information on how to maximise your exposure in the magazine and beyond.

Starfire Diamond Jewellery held a magnificent event in Bulimba two nights ago with champagne, beautiful canapes, red carpets and beautiful yellow diamonds, but it was the women who attended and the connections that were made that were great outcomes of the night. You can read more about Shweta's event further along! May is packed full of in person and virtual events with Brisbane and Hobart leading the way. Read on to purchase your tickets today.

And for a little something else there is an important reminder about why you should pay yourself superannuation and we profile female achievers from the recent Academy Awards night. Make sure you sign you and your puppy up for the RSPCA Million Paws Walk and share some kindness on the back of Pay It Forward Day.

Finally, Mother's Day is next Sunday so please share your promotions and gift ideas in the WNA Facebook group. Every Mum can share their thoughts on the celebration of motherhood by taking part in the Mother's Day Survey - for your insights you might just take home a beautiful $1000 Mother's Day Care Pack!

Thank you as always for your support of WNA and please reach out if I can assist with anything.

STARFIRE SHINING BRIGHTLY RECAP

A big thank you to Shweta Khan and Starfire Diamond Jewellery for hosting a WNA Member night on Wednesday 28 April. It was an absolute pleasure to get together with WNA members in an informal setting for a sparkling evening!

The top tip of the night was to not hesitate when it comes to ring stacker. As Liz Golding said, "I'm a stacker and I haven't been arrested!" Spacers can be soldered between settings to prevent them from rubbing and ensure your settings not only look great, but feel great too!

THE PINNACLE OF MY CAREER - THURSDAY 6 MAY

Von Barnes had the spark, to "Learn, Laugh and Lift". Von found working under a particular brand shadowed her creativity and hindered her ability to give a little extra to people, so she decided to do things a little differently. Pinnacle Properties was born and the rest is history. Having her own company has allowed Von to let her imagination run free and provide remarkable service and experience to her clients.

With her warm personality and unrelenting dedication, she is keen to share her thoughts, knowledge and experience with fellow WNA members and friends. You will learn:

  • Appreciating how you are made
  • Understanding the chapters of your life
  • Facing life challenges and building your book of life
  • Gaining courage to fly and celebrating you

SHAPING CHANGE AT WNA HOBART - FRIDAY 21 MAY

For Shaping Change and Susan Fahey Consulting, lockdown could not have come at a worse time. Rosalind Cardinal and Susan Fahey launched their new flagship Emerge, in what was quite possibly one of the last face-to-face networking events held in Hobart. Pivot is becoming a very overused word, but pivot they did. Moving to blended online delivery opened new markets interstate and internationally for them. Emerge was better than they could have imagined and they have had many success stories.

What you will learn!

Rosalind Cardinal, Managing Director of Shaping Change, will teach WNA guests:

  • Why it is more important than ever for women to step into leadership
  • The three keys to success as women in business
  • The tools and methods that were used to bring Emerge to a global audience
  • What is next for Emerge.

Location

RACV Hobart Hotel, 154-156 Collins Street, Hobart

IT'S A PRIORITY - PAY YOURSELF SUPER!

It seems many small business owners don't pay themselves superannuation to support their financial futures, with most believing their business will support and fund their retirement. However, like many oversights, not paying yourself super brings major risks for owners professionally and personally:
  • Your business fails - how do you know in the long run your business will survive and prosper?
  • Your business sells for less than you hoped - how do you know your business value won't drop just as you retire?
  • Your business fails to sell - actually selling your business can be complicated and drawn out and may require you to work longer than you want to.
  • Lost earnings - it's important to check the rules around low-balance super accounts (if you don't have enough funds going into these accounts, they may be wound up and your funds may be lost forever).
There are many positive reasons to pay yourself superannuation, such as claiming deductions on your pre-tax super contributions, you may be eligible for government co-contributions if you are a low income earner and there's the good old effect of compounding to generate better returns.

Helen Baker, a licenced financial adviser and author of 'On Your Own Two Feet' wants you to take control of your personal situation and gain the ascendancy in your wealth building efforts.

"THE OSCARS' -  AWARD WINNING WOMEN!

The epitomy of success in the acting world is the Academy Awards night and at the 93rd Academy Awards a record number of women were recognised for their incredible work in the field. Chloe Zhao's win for Best Director for the film Nomadland made her only the second woman in history to take the award and she was the first woman of colour to do so. There were more successes for Nomadland all round as Frances McDormand won the Best Actress Award for her role as Fern and Zhao also graciously accepted the Best Picture of the Year Award. And in further good news, Mia Neal and Jamika Wilson became the first black women to win Best Make-up and Hairstyling for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, and the Best Screenplay award went to Promising Young Director and Writer, Emerald Fennell. You can read more here on all the record winners of the night.

PAYING IT FORWARD!

This Wednesday, Australians celebrated Pay It Forward Day and there were some wonderful Pay It Forward initiatives happening around the country that made my heart sing! Some of the ideas that are being enacted in the community are really heartwarming:

  • Developing a sport clinic for youth at a local YMCA
  • Preparing a baby shower for a homeless woman
  • Reading to kids at a local library
  • Cleaning a neighbourhood house and mowing someone else's lawn
  • Paying for someone's coffee or lunch
  • Organising a life-saving blood drive
  • Visiting an older member of a nursing home to take away their loneliness for a day.
On an international scale, the goal is to complete 10 million acts of kindness and WNA agrees that this certainly would make not only Australia better but the world a better place. It got me thinking - maybe we could have our own WNA Pay It Forward Day soon where our members find their own way to pay it forward for someone in need and continue that ripple effect! Take the time to share your patch of kindness with someone today!

Do you know someone who would benefit from being part of WNA?

Feel free to forward our Member Benefits link so they can join too!
