Dear Guest,

I always enjoy reading more women have joined the ranks of senior leadership and continue to provide a pathway for other aspiring women to follow - Yamatji and Noongar woman Dorinda Cox has been announced as the first aboriginal woman to represent Western Australia in the Senate and Jo Clark OAM, a former water polo olympian has been appointed General Manager of BrainStorm Software to take tech to new heights. And it's fantastic to see Cara Peek, founder of Saltwater Country has been named 2020 AgriFutures Rural Women's Award National Winner in recognition of her work in creating opportunities for remote and regional First Nations people of Australia. It's heartening that so many women who have followed their purpose continue to light the way for others.

It has been promising to hear that some of our Australian borders will be opening up in time for Christmas. I know I am keen to visit some of my interstate family and friends and give them loads of hugs. It's a relief for many at a time when hope and positivity is the fuel for moving forward with strength and resilience together. And for businesses across Australia who have taken the brunt of the physical and financial impact, it is a hopefully a time for renewal and optimism. I for one am smiling as many of our WNA events are back on the calendar - if you are keen for a day or night out, our WNA events have something to offer everyone.

Gail Eaton-Briggs, author of 'Conscious Grit: From stuck to unstoppable' is keen to find 10 women to try her new course - Find the Unstoppable You 30 Day Challenge. If you need help developing your business confidence, motivation to step into a new form of leadership, or want to know more about yourself, this could be your opportunity. Contact Gail for more information.

Our Humble Leaders book has twelve fantastic stories of leadership, tenacity, determination and resilience which have been inspirational to those who have heard or read them. Excitingly, I am also pleased that two of these wonderful ladies will be with us on the couch at the Christmas Charity Luncheon to discuss their business and personal journeys. This book is a great Christmas gift idea to purchase for a special person in your life.

For members and friends in Hobart who attended our special event with Freya Downie - what an evening that was on Wednesday! Owner of Freya's Delights and creator of that delicious caramel sauce, she was a revelation to many and a young and upcoming entrepreneur on a mission. Her stories of her athletic pursuits and small business ideas was a great lesson for everyone in the room!

With Christmas on the horizon and hopefully a bit of freedom and travel, don't forget to share details of your business and special offers and deals with our WNA members and friends who might be keen to access them over the next few months. Our WNA Facebook Group is always a great place to connect, learn, and lead as well!

Finally, the Queensland Government is seeking interest for procurement opportunities for the Brisbane Olympic Games and a new Business Grant might be the opportunity for you to develop capability and success moving forward. Also I've included a podcast for those who want to learn more about clean energy and a leader and trailblazer has recently stepped down from her post but her leadership lessons will be an example for those who follow in her footsteps.

As always, I am open to your feedback and only ever a phone call away.

Stay safe and well this week and reach out if you need.

As the author of The Leading Edge, host of her masterpiece podcast - Coffee Pods, public speaking extraordinaire and many other titles, her latest creation is innovative and forward thinking. Energy Trailblazers is a podcast and video conversation series designed to accelerate global clean energy and climate solutions by chatting to global experts in this area.

From Change Agent Elisabeth Brinton to energy mobility CEO Francesco Venturini and Master Negotiator Chris Voss, there is sure to be an episode to intrigue your fancy. If you are like me and need an education in climate change and driving a positive future for clean energy, I encourage you to listen in and learn from these formidable educators.

Angela Merkel - Another Trailblazer and Courageous Leader

Last fortnight, I brought to you the wonderful work of Megumi Miki and her quiet leadership ideals. If you had a chance to view her website or read some of the book, there are some fascinating insights for organisations and leaders to support quiet leaders more effectively in their professional lives. Furthermore, the quiet leadership theme continued with a moving documentary on one of the world's most powerful women who has recently stepped away from political office.

She has been a trailblazing leader having served 30 years in politics and an incredible four terms as the German Chancellor - she is Angela Merkel. A recent Four Corners documentary on Angela Merkel paints an incredible journey of a strong, determined, yet quietly driven woman who embraced her own unique style to lead in many an intimidating environment. Her courage through adversity, over public scrutiny and other challenges is a great example for others to follow.
