Dear Guest,

It was great to see Small Business Ombudsman Kate Carnell come out in support of reforming the childcare system this week. She said "having access to high-quality, affordable early education would deliver 'essential support to women in small business.' Women make up more than a third of Australia's small business owners - 38% with the COVID recession having a disproportionate impact on women. As Carnell alludes, making childcare more tax-effective or phasing in an expanded subsidy scheme would support women business owners and provide an $11 million boost to the economy. It's great to see more advocacy from leaders such as Kate Carnell so women in small business can thrive and succeed!

Thank you again to everyone who attended our February Brisbane and Hobart events - both events were attended superbly and it was great to see everyone enjoying the experience and time with fellow members. Read on further for wrap-ups of both events! Our WNA events calendar rolls on into March and our WNA Charity High Tea is coming along nicely. We are still keen to hear from anyone who could kindly donate some raffle prizes in support of Women's Legal Service Queensland.

Our monthly Socialise at Sunset will continue on 12 March so register now to join in the online fun! Liz Clift and Liz Golding are also running a night of fashion, cocktails and networking on 11 March and are keen to introduce new members to the wonderful new releases from Paris, Malan and New York pefect for  leisure wear, that special day out!

And most importantly if you're involved in or hosting an International Women's Day event and would like to include it in our next WNA communique, please email admin@womensnetwork.com.au and provide as much detail as you can! We are keen to support your events so reach out and share the events you have planned!

Having access to grants can make all the difference to some of our women-led businesses. And on the flip side, it's also important to understand as a grant facilitator or maker how your resourcing can ensure efficiency and greater impact of your grants and uphold risk management standards and compliance with your programs.

Last but not least, I have included some information on the All About Women Event being held in Sydney which has been designed to support you with you inspirations and business goals and finished off with a positive affirmation to start your weekend.

As always if you have any ideas for how to make our communique better or additional content you would like included, please reach out and let me know. New ideas are always good :)

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Janelle ♥

OUR BRISBANE 'GET REAL' NETWORKING EVENT WAS ALL ABOUT CONNECTION!

What a wonderful start to live events in 2021! With close to 50 wonderful attendees at our first Brisbane WNA event of the year, it was a great opportunity for members to see each other in person after many months of virtual networking. We went around the room discussing the challenges of being a business owner during COVID-19, how we overcame those challenges and what business owners can do to prepare themselves for the future.

It was brilliant to have some first-time WNA event attendees in the room, some brand new members and many familiar faces! There were some genuine connections being made around the room and first-hand accounts of WNA members working together, even some who were in different states! While COVID-19 certainly disrupted business, I am thrilled to see the new nation-wide relationships that have been formed thanks to events such as our Socialise at Sunset virtual networking.

OUR HOBART MEMBERS ALSO ENJOYED THEIR RECENT LUNCH EVENT!

Last week in Hobart WNA members gathered to hear from Gail Eaton-Briggs at a brand new venue. Yet again, a fantastic way to catch up with members and kick off 2021 in style! While I wasn't able to be there in person, our WNA leader Alison Rogers spoke about how Gail took attendees on a journey through the model she developed - unconscious grit to the zone of conscious grit. Particularly how she found and ‘caught’ a tipping point. Thank you Gail for an enlightening presentation.
