Dear Guest,

I am still buzzing from the release of the WNA Winter 2020 Magazine. I was so impressed I had to actually read through the magazine a couple of times just to absorb and cherish all the wonderful business tips, advice and support for other women who contributed to this resource. I have seen that members around the country have started to receive their copies in the mail and have loved seeing them all over social media! Don't forget members and friends can purchase additional print or digital copies on the WNA website. I'd love to hear your feedback or how you have used the messages to aid you in your small business goals.

Janeen Vosper was brilliant this Wednesday during episode two of the WNA Virtual Series "Firing up your business", as she showed us how we can "Launch our sales in the new now". For some great advice, check out the Virtual section of this email to find out how you can achieve thriving business sales too!

Have you booked your tickets for our 2020 WNA Christmas Charity Luncheon - tickets are selling quickly! Book your table now - the program we've got planned just keeps getting better - and most importantly we are proud to support the wonderful organisation Women's Legal Service Queensland! We don't want anyone to miss out!

Ilona Teremi - thank you for your wonderful reminder on how to be a Master Networker - I really resonated with three of the top ten traits - being sincere, having a positive attitude and thanking people. I will definitely attempt to continue listening, supporting and thanking our members as much as possible. Thank you also to Nici Bickley of Autom8Now for a great reminder on the importance of a business website. There are many great blogs flowing through so keep up to date on the blog section of the website.

Katrena Friel is our member of the week and Moana Robinson of B Styled for Life has a wonderful 10% off her services for all WNA members! How do I know? Moana has it listed in her business directory listing on our website! Have you completed your business directory profile? If not, you could be missing out on opportunities from other WNA Members.

Socialise at Sunset is not on this week, but I wanted to continue to send my thoughts to members in Victoria and New South Wales, and also other areas that are locked down at this time. I look forward to catching up with our southern members next week in Socialise at Sunset to hear how things are going for you.

I'd encourage all members to think about the impacts of a potential second wave for all of Australia and a second forced closure on your business. Keep staying positive, but have a plan in case this scenario plays out for all of us again.

And as I leave you this week, I heard this and felt it was such a timely thought: "Do things for people not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are."

As always, I am here to help, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you a wonderful day!

JUMP ON BOARD WNA VIRTUAL SEASON TWO - AND KEEP FIRING UP!

This week we heard from the brilliant Janeen Vosper on Wednesday about how you can move forward and thrive in the recovery phase with a few simply sales tips.

In particular, Janeen covered the three C's - Consolidate, Cultivate and Celebrate. I took away one big reminder which was that we are always selling! Whenever we are talking to someone, writing an email or representing our business, we are selling our business to potential customers. We have to stop thinking about selling as being a dirty word and start thinking about how we can sell without it intimidating us as much.

I was glad to hear Janeen say that one of the easiest and best ways to do this is by simply picking up the phone and talk to your customers. Take the time to understand them and what their needs are, then let them know how you can assist. It's a much more personal approach.

EPISODE THREE IS COMING TO YOU ON THURSDAY AUGUST 13!
I am excited to confirm that the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASFBEO), Kate Carnell, will be joining us for Episode Three of WNA Virtual Season Two. Kate will discuss with us all things small business! Below are some of the questions Kate will answer for you:
  • What are the most common disputes in these pandemic times?
  • How does the small business ombudsman help businesses looking to expand and provide regional employment opportunities?
  • Why do sole traders with no employees and currently not registered for GST keep getting overlooked for grants and support during COVID-19?
ASBFEO and Kate have also partnered up to bring you regular, informative podcast updates in relation to all the work her office is doing to advocate for small businesses all around Australia. With a seat at the federal table, ASBFEO has the legislative power to influence our nation's lawmakers, ensuring legislation and regulations are put in place to help small businesses grow and in these times, survive!

This is an episode not to be missed, so lock it in your calendar now and book your ticket here.

A POWERFUL MESSAGE FROM REPRESENTATIVE ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ

I love keeping the content positive and enlightening every week, but I saw this powerful speech from Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez in response to Representative Ted Yoho on some rather choice words and actions on his behalf. I encourage you to listen to this powerful 10 minute video on how she advocates for professionalism, fighting against harassment, fighting against abuse of women, fighting for fair and respectful treatment, being kind to others and accepting that everyone is different.

On My Day with Nat Cook: 2020ne

You might recall 5-time Olympian Nat Cook was our first cover girl on our digital magazine. Well, now she's moved on to producing a fabulous podcast where she interviews Aussie athletes on the day they would have participated in their event at the Tokyo Games if they had not been postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nat has been a fabulous supporter of WNA and we're proud to support her new podcast and the opportunity it gives some of Australia's most talented athletes to update us on their current training schedules and what the future looks like - completely raw and honest! Do yourself a favour and check it out on your chosen podcast app or visit www.nataliecook.com.

A second statewide award for AIS Water!
