| | | Dear Guest,
It's July, a new financial year, a chance to plan well and kick some goals, as well as generate positive energy into our daily lives! I am excited for what the second half of 2020 holds and working along side all of you towards bigger and better action. As we waved goodbye to FY 19/20 and a tough few months, I look forward to bringing more content to you via the weekly communique.
No doubt many of you are busy working through end of financial year processes and implementing policy changes. In particular, make sure you've reviewed the latest increase to minimum wage and made the necessary amendments for your employees.
As mentioned last week, WNA Virtual Season Two is not too far away and the theme is "Fire Up Your Business!". Find out more about our first two sessions in the event details below!
Speaking of events, it's hard to believe that it was nearly eight months ago we celebrated Christmas 2019 at Victoria Park Golf Course. With restrictions on events and the need for venues to implement COVID Safe Plans, returning to live networking events is something I am still working through. However, I am delighted to announce the 2020 WNA Christmas Charity Luncheon has been locked in for Thursday 26 November! Please jot this date in your diary or google calendar now and start planning who you'll invite to your table!
It was fantastic to read Tracey Robinson's blog on Australian Consumer Law responsibilities for NDIS providers and fulfilling our obligations appropriately when supplying consumers with a disability. A really insightful article! Leanne Sklavenitis - thank you for your astuteness about how positive self talk and healthy living is the aim of creating a healthier life rather than just weight loss. I must say Janet Bailey's headline of Kmart Vs Target certainly drew me in and it was worth the read! Thank you all for submitting your blogs.
And the good news keeps on coming! The Winter Magazine is with the printer and will be hitting postboxes soon! Keep watching our social media platforms, you might just get a sneak peek!
Lastly, there won't be a Socialise at Sunset this week but remember to register for next week's session (Friday 10 July) here!
As always, I am here to help, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Wishing you a wonderful day!

| | | THE POWER OF WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP AND MOVING PAST CORONA!
It's no secret that some of the world's top leaders throughout COVID-19 have been women including NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel. At a time of mass confusion, anxiety and a future clouded with uncertainty, these women have demonstrated great care, empathy, collaboration, transparency and accountability on a journey towards positive health, economic viability and public unity.
Both political leaders have demonstrated great qualities that have ensured leadership success during this harrowing time. They have showcased opportunities for all of us to learn how to become better leaders including: - Displaying a calm, collected, science-led style
- Taking their time to assess the pandemic situation and when they speak, the public and external stakeholders listen
- Presenting the unfiltered, scary facts in an honest yet responsible way
- Utilising authentic, clear, and impactful communication skills
- Being willing to admit they "don't know" or "I will work with the experts to determine a way forward"
PODCAST OF THE WEEK!
Hosts June Thomas, Rumaan Alam, and Thomas Butler interview people about their jobs in Working. Americans from various creative industries discuss how they write, compose, paint, create documentaries and more.
READ OF THE WEEK! Francis Frei and Anne Morriss offer a different world view for the practice of leadership today in their latest book Unleashed. Showing how the boldest, most effective leaders use a special combination of trust, love, and belonging to create an environment in which other people can excel, Frei and Morriss offer practical, battle-tested tools—based on their work with companies such as Uber, Riot Games, and others—along with interviews and stories from their own personal experience, to make these ideas come alive. | | | Do you know someone who would benefit from being part of WNA?
