Dear Guest,

It has been heartening to learn this week that our Victorian friends were freed from lockdown on Wednesday! Amazing news for all of our members in Melbourne and greater Victoria. I know those 112 days have not been easy, but we are proud of your optimism and strength during an incredibly tough period. Make sure you stay safe as you move more freely around your communities and do enjoy a cafe meal or three! And for our friends in Tasmania, I know you are also enjoying the news that your border will relax restrictions. Keep looking after each other!

October seems to have gone by so fast and there are always many things to do! I have a checklist of work tasks and phone calls to make, event logistics jobs to complete, a lawn to mow at home, spring cleaning to settle and many more, as I am sure all of you do too. I find it really helps me to stay on task to have a list in my phone, or a checklist I write each morning. Any tips on how you stay on task, I am always keen to hear!

We are less than a month away from our much anticipated WNA QLD Christmas Charity Luncheon! I am excited to announce the dynamic Rachael Tiernan will host our event and it is fabulous to have KLM Solicitors on board this year as our Event Partner. Without their support, this event would not be possible.

In the Membership section of this communique you'll find another opportunity for FREE movie passes, understand the benefits of having a good Business Coach, and as always read terrific articles on a range of subjects from our WNA blog.

And for a little something else, you can read about how to support jobseekers with positive recruitment practices and learn tips for your business through a business coach podcast.

Lastly, it's Children's Week in Australia so read on to learn how we can support our children's achievements and 'Walk with Daniel' as part of the Morcombe's child safety legacy.

As always, I am here to help, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Janelle ♥

Marilyn Burton is a Business Consultant and Advisor who can talk the talk because she has walked the walk! I really enjoyed reading her latest blog on the benefits of having a Business Coach. I also enjoyed the analogy of how successful athletes need coaches to help them achieve on the sporting field or peak for a world event, but crucially business owners need to be at their best every day to succeed.

As business owners, having someone to help drive our success hold us to account and transform our efforts into performance, is vital for taking our business success to the next level. Marilyn's article details how to choose the most appropriate Business Coach for you and there are a number of great tips in the following link which I would encourage you to read!

Does Every Business Owner Need a Coach?

It's tough out there in the job market currently with the pandemic resulting in multiple job cuts and redundancies. Jobseekers have been forced to apply for multiple jobs and attend multiple interviews at times, but many have had negative recruitment experiences. Some recruiters and HR departments are leaving jobseekers waiting long periods of time to know the outcome or there is no communication at all.

At a time of uncertainty, anxiety, and potentially personal and financial stress, leaving jobseekers in limbo is disrespectful and unfair. It is hard to deliver bad news or give feedback to an unsuccessful candidate, but this is crucial for a positive recruitment process. Creating a transparent pathway is vital from a communication perspective, it leaves the relationship in a positive manner, gives the jobseeker clarity and motivation to continue their job search and also boosts the reputation of your business brand. Read here for more tips on how you can support jobseekers at this challenging time.

The My Daily Business Coach podcast provides inspiration, education and motivation for small business owners who want to fall in love with their business again and build a business they can be proud of. Fiona Killackey is an author, speaker, business coach and founder and she leads the conversation through short interviews with small business owners who provide their tips, tools and tactics to help us all transform our own businesses. I have included two below which I thought you may be interested in:

In Australia, Children's Week is an annual event that focuses the attention of the wider community on children, their rights and achievements. Children's Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities. Many states and territories themes celebrate the rights of children to choose their friends and safely connect with others.

You can find out how to celebrate in your state/territory and access some great promotional resources and songs in this link!

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in honour of Daniel Morcombe to make Australia a safer place for children. It was founded by parents Bruce and Denise after their son was abducted and murdered in December 2003 while waiting to catch a bus on the Sunshine Coast. The aims of the Foundation are to educate children and young people about how to stay safe in physical and online environments and to support young victims of crime.

You can register to participate in Day for Daniel by completing your Walk With Daniel - anywhere in Australia and walk your four kilometres to continue Daniel's legacy of child safety across Australia.

You can also donate here to make a difference and help in the education of all children on their personal safety. Otherwise, maybe tonight is a good night to wear red and have the conversation over dinner about what personal safety is with our precious children!

Do you know someone who would benefit from being part of WNA?
