Dear Guest,

I have been grateful and thankful for the opportunity to rest and reflect over the Christmas/New Year break and spend quality time with family and friends. I am excited and energised by what 2021 has to offer all of us after a challenging time. I am also enthusiastic that our Women's Network Australia vision is full of hope and empowered women who are keen to empower other women in their communities this year. The signs are positive for recovery and prosperity for small business and many of Australia's top entrepreneurs are keen to share what their focus is for 2021 which I thought was really valuable for you to read. Key areas of focus are:
  • High-quality, targeted content is the important catalyst that businesses must create to engage prospective buyers
  • Business and sales success will hinge on your ability to leverage data and create competitive advantage
  • Looking after your employees and staff will be paramount as will flexibility, leadership and adaptability
  • Focus on what a positive post-COVID world will resemble and not assume things will go back to 'normal'
  • Belonging to a community that supports you, encourages you and helps you is fundamental to business success
  • Employ a growth mindset and find new opportunities to do business, physically and digitally.
WNA finished 2020 on a high with a couple of influential events and I am pleased to announce a wonderful line-up of 2021 events which I am sure you are excited to join! WNA is always striving to improve and support our membership both online and in person and I am thrilled to be kicking off the year with Socialise at Sunset today! Digital presence and connection will be a continued way WNA members can empower and support each other.

Please read on to register for Brisbane and Hobart-based events that will promote the power of "Real Networking". Supporting our members nationally is a key objective and providing opportunities for all of you to meet and greet in person is going to be very important in 2021. Authentic and genuine connections are central to the success of the WNA network.

It is also terrific to be able to announce our inaugural Charity High Tea which will celebrate Women's History Month in March and our Conversations on the Couch where we will be joined by two distinguished and prominent Australian women who have led tremendously in their respective industries. Please read on for more information and details on how this event will also support the highly respected work of Women's Legal Service Queensland

Over the holiday period, your WNA articles contributed towards ideas such as having a supportive relationship with our daughters, how to work out what your business is worth and why it's important, how to understand business risk and the protections you should have in place, common myths about wills, and many more ideas. Our members appreciate reading them - keep them coming!

Lastly, movies are a wonderful hobby of mine, especially ones featuring Eric Bana! WNA Movie Club is fortunate to have some free movies passes to release to some lucky WNA members this week!

As Australians, we are fortunate to live in a relatively safe and happy environment where we can support and care for our loved ones. If anything is clear for our network this year, it's the need to continue to foster our values of kindness, welcoming and championing new members, and developing your own versions of business success and personal growth.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

"Networking - Getting Real in 2021" - Brisbane!

I have always felt networking is about getting real. You have all remarked that authentic and meaningful connections are central to our network. It's not about the list gathering or business card smash and grab. I am proud to say that WNA members share their successes, but also their vulnerabilities. We support, encourage and sometimes console each other through the good and challenging times.

Our first Brisbane event of 2021 will give you, as our valued members, the opportunity to connect in a very real way. We are keen to showcase how you pivoted and adapted your business in 2020. In addition, we've had members win major awards, adapt their businesses to online mode successfully and many have increased production significantly. Please register now for your opportunity to be featured also.

WNA MOVIE CLUB - GET IN QUICK FOR FREE MOVIE PASSES!

It has been a treat to spend some treasured time with family and friends enjoying simple adventures over the break and for me this is going to the movies. I enjoyed a few Christmas movie favourites and moving into 2021 there are a number of newbies hitting our screens! To celebrate the release of The Dry and Dreambuilders, I have a number of complimentary double-pass movie tickets available for members! Click here to request passes and be sure to include your current postal address.

THE DRY (Eric Bana, Sam Corlett) (Based on Jane Harper's bestselling book, The Dry)

When Federal Agent Aaron Falk returns to his drought-stricken home town after an absence of over twenty years to attend the funeral of his childhood friend, who allegedly murdered his wife and child before taking his own life. Falk opens up an old wound - the decades-old, unsolved death of a teenage girl.

The Dry tickets are courtesy of Roadshow.

DREAMBUILDERS (Imaginative and fun for everyone especially children!)

In this animated tale, Minna's life is turned upside down when her dad's fiancee Helena, and her daughter, Jenny move in. Her new stepsister, Jenny, turns out to be horrible and Minna is frustrated. She wants her gone! One night Minna discovers a world behind her dreams in which creatures known as 'Dreambuilders' construct and direct the dreams that we experience whilst we sleep. With this newfound knowledge, Minna learns how to manipulate Jenny's dreams.

YOUR WNA BLOGS HAVE BEEN EXCEPTIONAL - KEEP THEM COMING IN 2021!

Penelope Trunk said "Blogging is good for your career. A well-executed blog sets you apart as an expert in your field." Her vision is true and as always I learn more each time I read each of our WNA members' blogs. Over the break a number of interesting and thought-provoking articles were contributed to the WNA blog. Thank you for continuing to post your thoughts and ideas and I encourage everyone to keep this important task high on the planner list for 2021.

Benefits include backlinks to your business website and increasing customer and client traffic to your business information. If you would love to stay up-to-date with member's articles and contributions or catch up on a few, you can follow along on the WNA website.

MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR WNA MEMBERSHIP AND TIME IN BUSINESS THIS YEAR!

Singer and songwriter Tina Turner is now retired and enjoying life in Switzerland having delighted the world through her breathtaking songs and her movies. I recently read an insightful Harvard Business Review article on Tina's life with editor Alison Beard and there were many messages of optimism, resilience and believing in your goals and dreams that resonated strongly with me. She gave simple but ideal advice for anyone making their way in creative fields in life:

"Stay true to yourself, work hard, and be reliable. Taking the road less travelled is often harder but well worth it. And no matter what, never give up."

Anyone who has the courage to start a business or work for themselves often takes the road less travelled and it is the power of a strong network that can support you on your way. There is an opportunity for all of us to connect powerfully and support each other in business and personal goals. Most importantly, the WNA Leadership Team and myself are here every step of the way to ensure all of you have a prosperous and enjoyable year.

As WNA CEO, I love engaging professionally with members and aspire for all of you to make the most of your membership. Reach out via  email to book a 30-minute discussion on how I can support you on your journey this year. You've got this in 2021!

Do you know someone who would benefit from being part of WNA?

Feel free to forward our Member Benefits link so they can join too!
