I really believe this quote from Marie Forleo sums up our member of the week - Janette Corporal. "Success doesn't come from what you do occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently."
Janette Corporal is the Director and Owner of The Gown Chick, hiring and selling graduation academic dress. She was formerly the Academic Dress Manager at a major Brisbane university for 32 years.
Over the past three decades Janette has been involved in graduation ceremonies in Australia, the UK and USA and has a wealth of knowledge in this area. Commencing employment in 1985 as a receptionist at the university’s student union, this position included assisting with the planning & preparation of graduation ceremonies. Janette’s passion for academic dress grew, resulting in the formation of a dedicated graduation gown hire department, which evolved to become the largest single source of income for the organisation.
After resigning from her position in 2017, Janette used her experience and knowledge in the specialised area of academic dress to start her own company. The Gown Chick now has a stock of over 1,000 graduation gowns as well as countless hoods in a variety of colours to suit degrees up to and including PhD. The Gown Chick has filled a gap in the market as the only academic dress hire service in Brisbane hiring to individual customers. The Gown Chick continues to build a strong customer base amongst schools and colleges Australia wide, while a strong focus on customer service remains her number one priority.

Political reporters and commentators Leigh Sales and Annabel Crabb have brought the wonderfully lighthearted and popular podcast Chat 10 Looks 3 into our loungerooms where they discuss radio, movies, food, books, politics and other topics they are interested in. BOOKS AND MOVIES WITH THE BRILLIANT MIRANDA TAPSELL! Top End Girl is the engaging memoir of Darwin born, Miranda Tapsell. As a young Larrakia Tiwi girl growing up, she never felt like she fit in but took to acting to explore her creative side. Combining her pride in her Aboriginality and passion for romantic comedies with her love of Darwin, the Tiwi Islands and the Top End, Miranda co-wrote, produced and starred in the box office hit, Top End Wedding. Funny and thought-provoking!
